(LINCOLN, Neb.) – Today, Director Scott R. Frakes appeared before the Nebraska Justice System Special Oversight Committee (LR 127) of the Legislature to share about the progress of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.  A copy of Director Frakes’ prepared remarks and handouts are attached.

Director Frakes told the committee the agency accomplished a tremendous amount of work over the past two and a half years. He said, “None of this could have been achieved without the men and women who staff our facilities twenty-four hours a day, three-hundred-sixty-five days a year and who are committed to helping provide the individuals within our care the opportunity to change and lead better lives.”

Director Frakes also noted that focusing only on challenges sends the wrong message to the incarcerated population, reinforcing the perception that nothing is working. “I can assure this is far from the truth,” he said.
