February 8, 2019 (Lincoln, Neb) Today, Scott R. Frakes announced the arrest of inmate Anthony Gafford (#52277) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gafford was placed on escape status January 26, 2019, when he failed to return to the Community Correction Center-Lincoln (CCC-L) following a work assignment.

The U.S. Marshals Service apprehended Gafford (#52277) on February 7, 2019 after receiving  information from the U.S. Marshals Metro Fugitive Task Force in Nebraska about Gafford’s possible whereabouts.

Gafford had been housed at CCC-L since May 2018 and was scheduled for a parole hearing in April. He committed his crime in 1997 and was sentenced 30 to 50 years for 2nd degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

CCC-L is one of two community custody facilities operated by NDCS. Inmates housed in those facilities have the opportunity to take part in work release in the community, with prior approval and without direct supervision.

Based on court records, Gafford has had his parole revoked on two previous occasions.
