April 10, 2018 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – Isaiah Jones (74), #33355, died today at 1:35 a.m. at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution. His sentence began on Feb. 25, 1981. He was serving a life sentence for first degree murder (Douglas County).

Cause of death has not been determined; Jones was being treated for a long-term medical condition. As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, a grand jury will...Read more

March 20, 2018 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – Rueben Reyes (34), inmate #77306, died on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the Johnson County Hospital. He was assigned to the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., staff members observed Reyes unresponsive in his cell from an apparent suicide attempt. They immediately began CPR; Reyes was transferred to the local hospital via emergency responders, where he was pronounced dead at 3:20 p.m.

March 2, 2018 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – An inmate at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) assaulted a staff member on Thursday, March 1, 2018.

At approximately 9:20 p.m., while conducting a facility count, staff members observed the inmate on the floor in his cell. The inmate was taken to the skilled nursing facility to be admitted for observation. Jan. 26, 2018 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Today, the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services released the application for the third Vocational & Life Skills (VLS) grant cycle.
