NDCS Team Member Spotlight:

Former marine, Sergeant (Sgt.) Brad Kreifels of the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L) has been with NDCS for 28 years, joining the team in 1983. What keeps him coming to work every day? That answer would be the environment. He loves how each day is different and full of surprises.

Sgt. Kreifels wears many hats at CCC-L, which is one of the reasons he loves his job. His days are full of activity – getting transfers from other institutions, taking photos, getting IDs taken care of and much more. Sgt. Kreifels says one important aspect of the job is the connection among team members. It is very much like a family.

“When things get bad with tough situations, everyone here pulls together,” said Sgt. Kreifels.

Safety and security are two important facets to NDCS. Sgt. Kreifels was recently part of a project that enhanced the key check-in and check-out process for staff members. He credits former CCC-L Warden Barbara Lewien and Assistant Warden Shaun Settles, as well as Douglas County jails, for helping to bring the project to success.
