July 31, 2017 (Tecumseh, Neb.) – Lewis Bade (82), inmate #50738, died at 3:45 am on Friday, July 28, 2017, in the skilled nursing facility at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.  Bade was serving 56 years 8 months to 100 years for 4 counts of first degree sexual assault, 2 counts of first degree sexual assault on a child, and 1 count visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct from Madison and Stanton counties.  His sentence began on March 19, 1998; he had a projected release date of September 22, 2047.

While the cause of his death has not been determined, he was being treated for a long-term medical condition. As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Department of Correctional Services, a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
