September 10, 2018 (Lincoln, Neb.) – Elijah Jones, #35083, died today at 4:09 p.m. at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). Mr. Jones was serving a life sentence for first degree murder. He was sentenced to a life sentence in Douglas County.

While cause of death has not been determined, Mr. Jones was being treated for a long-term medical condition. As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
