IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Teacher Diane Murphy leads a class at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI). Murphy started as a contract teacher with Metro Community College (MCC) at TSCI in December 2001. In 2008 she became an NDCS teacher and taught at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) from 2011 to 2014 before returning to TSCI. Murphy teaches adult education, GED classes and coordinates the Destination Dad program. She is also an Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) facilitator and adjunct instructor for MCC in Employability Skills. #NDCSTeamMemberSpotlightRead more

Seven incarcerated individuals from the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln (CCC-L), volunteered at the Lincoln Indian Center on July 14th, 21st and 22nd. The men helped to rebuild their Pow Wow area, which includes their stage and bench seating area.Read more

The Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) recently partnered with Christian Heritage to host a father-daughter dance. 14 fathers and 16 daughers attended the dance on July 23.Read more

Incarcerated individuals at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) were given the opportunity to attend a presentation by Tom Zoucha, a retired Sergeant from the Omaha Police Department on July 26. Sergeant Zoucha provided insight and examples from his thirty years of experience on the police force in order to demonstrate ways for individuals to improve communication and interactions with law enforcement and to make those encounters less stressful. Sixty-three incarcerated women attended the presentation by Sergeant Zoucha, who brought great enthusiasm and humor to a sensitive topic.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Corporal Tosha Benson works in central control at the Correctional Center for Women (NCCW). Benson has been with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) since September 2017. Her main job duties include monitoring the yard and ensuring the safety and security of the institution. “I chose this career because I wanted to be able to make an impact in someone's life in some way,” Benson said. “I feel this work is very important because you have an opportunity every day to be a positive influence or role model for the inmate population.” #NDCSTeamMemberSpotlightRead more

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Religious Coordinator Chuck Glenn works on paperwork at Central Office. Glenn has has been with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) since 2007. His main job duties include tracking incarcerated individuals’ religious preferences and dealing with religious-related issues department-wide. Glenn earned his Doctorate of Theology in May, but said he couldn’t have done it on his own. “It was a team effort,” Glenn said. “I couldn’t have finished this process without the help from all of my NDCS colleagues and the Lord’s guiding hand.” #NDCSTeamMemberSpotlightRead more
