A Community Corrections Center – Lincoln (CCC-L) road crew has been out and about this spring assisting the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) with road enhancements in southeastern Nebraska.

The crew filled cracks on both sides of a five-mile highway stretch near Pawnee City, put sand in 300 bags to weigh down signs for an upcoming highway closure and poured concrete for a project south of Lincoln.

The group is gaining job skills and helping NDOT keep our roads safe. Thank you to the CCC-L team who supervises this crew!Read more

Kudos to the amazing team members who are part of the Employee Activities Committee (EAC). They develop creative ways to recognize and show appreciation to fellow team members for the work they do—and they make the process fun! In celebration of Corrections Month, the Community Corrections Center – Lincoln EAC treated team members to a popcorn bar, complete with a variety of colorful mix-ins.Read more

Team members at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) gathered this month to recognize the TSCI 2021 Employees of the Year and the recipients of the Warden's Award.

As noted, this facility is a game changer – not only in elevating the services provided to the incarcerated population, but also in terms of the amenities available to staff.

Team members from NDCS facilities across the department gathered this month to develop a solid foundation of leadership skills at the First-Level Leader Academy. Each brought unique experiences, but all shared something in common—an eagerness to step up to a new level of leadership.

Throughout the training program, team members learned to establish a leader’s mindset, lead through change, create a culture of feedback and manage their time and energy.

During graduation, participants shared the most impactful thing they learned and how they will bring this back to their teams to make a difference.Read more

Yesterday the Staff Training Academy (STA) gym was filled with an enthusiastic group of family, friends and NDCS team members who all came to show their support for this class.

Several of the graduates received their badges from a family member currently working for NDCS. It was a special moment to acknowledge the legacy they each will carry on.

Deputy Director Jeremy Elder's message for the graduates focused on the topic of change — both being adaptable to changing circumstances on the job and realizing the opportunity each team member can and will have to change lives in their role with NDCS.
