Tecumseh State Correctional Institution (TSCI) Religious Coordinator Mike Carr had a lifelong goal of earning a master’s degree, and his employment with NDCS helped him achieve this dream. This spring, Mike graduated with a master’s degree in Critical and Creative Thinking from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

At the Community Correctional Center – Lincoln (CCC-L), Corporal (Cpl.) Catherine Svoboda is using creativity to put a positive spin on life by creating an inspirational positivity board in the women’s housing unit.

The “Flip Flop Your Mindset” board was created as a space for the women to lay out their negative thoughts and then “flip” them into something positive. Each sandal has a negative message written on top and a positive “flip” to the message written on the bottom. The board has a plethora of sandals on it!

Volunteers play a key role in NDCS, giving hundreds of hours each month to positively impact and transform lives today for better communities tomorrow. We have great opportunities available for those who are interested. Once accepted into the Volunteer Services program, you will attend a virtual orientation to gain the skills and knowledge to be a successful volunteer within NDCS. There are three virtual orientations coming up in June:
