Director of Nursing at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women (NCCW) Tanita Troester was a recipient of the Leadership Award at the NDCS Annual Awards. Troester's positive attitude shines through her communication and willingness to work with other team members. Today we are celebrating a career milestone for one of our teammates. Scott Ellinger, road crew corporal (cpl.) at the Community Corrections Center - Lincoln (CCC-L), marked 35 years of service with NDCS.

The incarcerated population and team members alike enjoy working with Cpl. Ellinger because of his personality, leadership and the way he treats those around him with respect and fairness.

Congratulations to Corporal (Cpl.) Mohammed Nessaief, who was selected as Employee of the Month at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC). Cpl. Nessaief is known for his attention to detail and willingness to help out his fellow teammates. He has a high level of initiative and a strong commitment to keeping staff, the incarcerated population and the public safe.

Young men at the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility enjoyed using their creativity to make some fantastic fall decorations to share with their families, staff and the community. Seventeen individuals participated in the pumpkin painting activity and could choose to send their pumpkins home with their families, place in the staff offices or donate to Open Door Mission. Captain (Cpt.) Phillip McClymont was a recipient of the Supervisor/Manager of the Year Award at the recent NDCS Annual Awards. Cpt. McClymont is an excellent mentor to his teammates. The history of an organization has direct bearing on its future. It serves as the basis for the company’s culture and provides a benchmark for progress. While NDCS has maintained a timeline of events on its website, a process improvement project was undertaken to make the historical record more robust. As part of that process, stakeholders were interviewed who had long-standing knowledge of the department.
